Q:How does Holiday Crash Pads work?

A:If you have spare rooms or a space in your house you want to rent, including a room, a bed, a sofa, a tent, or a whole house, you can register free of charge with Holiday Crash Pads. People looking for crash pads will then browse all rooms in destination they want to stay, and make a booking request. You can then accept or refuse the request, after looking at the guest´s profile. Once the booking is accepted, you can e-mail the guest details about arrival, directions etc., You will receive cash on arrival for your room.

Q:What are the benefits of renting out my room with Holiday Crash Pads?

A:You can earn extra cash from renting out dead space in your home.

Q:How much will it cost to register my property with you?

A:Absoutely nada, nothing, zilch … we take a £5 booking fee from the guest and you pay nothing at all.

Q:How will I get paid?

A:You will be paid cash by the guest on arrival.

Q:How do I upload my property details?

A:You can send them directly to us and we will upload them for you.

Q:Do I need to have photos of my property in order to list it?

A:Yes, you are ten times more likely to rent out your pad, if you include quality photos with the property details. We will upload those for you, along with details of your crash pad.

Q:How quickly will my property become active on  your site?

A:Within 24 hours of us receiving your property details and quality photos.

Q:What type of space can I list with Holiday Crash Pads?

A:You can rent any type of space, including your spare room, your corridor, your air-bed, your sofa, your shed, your futon, your chaise longue, your floor or your whole house.

Q:Can I list a space anywhere in the world?

A:Yes, Holiday Crash Pads reaches far and wide, so wherever you are in the world, you can rent out your space for free.

Q:What should my property description include?

A:You should include details about the room you are renting, the sleeping space and any helpful information about nearby attractions, distance to train/bus/tube, and anything which would appeal to the guests.

Q:How much should I charge to rent my space?

A:Charge less than local guest houses and hotels, and make sure you are competitive with other holiday crash pads in your area. The cheaper you are, the  more bookings you will receive.

Q:How quickly do I need to reply to a reservation request?

A:You are advised to answer as quickly as possible, as guests may look elsewhere if they don´t receive a prompt reply.

Q:Do I have to give the guest keys for my property?

A:It is entirely up to you whether or not you want to give keys to the guests, but it is not obligatory. You can discuss this with the guests once they have booked your space.

Q:Do I have to provide meals?

A:This is entirely optional. If you want to include breakfast in the price of your crash pad, then make this clear to the guest in your property details. If not, you can rent your space as room only.

Q:How will I be compensated for a cancellation or a no-show?

A:Holiday Crash Pads does not pay compensation for cancellations, as we list your property free of charge.

Q:As a host, how can I cancel a guest reservation?

A:Cancelling a reservation can ruin travel plans for the guest, but we understand that situations may force you to cancel the booking. You should contact the guest as soon as possible, try to re-accommodate them with other hosts in your area. We will carry their £5 booking fee over so they can book another crash pad.

Q:How do reviews work?

A:Reviews will be posted from previous guests when they send their comments into us. The better the reviews of your room to rent, the more bookings you are likely to get.

Q:Is it safe to invite people into my home?

A:You must always be careful when inviting people into your home, but we do everything possible to make it a safe and enjoyable experience. As guests will be paying cash on arrival, you will not have to give out any bank details. You can view member profiles before you decide whether to accept or refuse a booking. You can also see reviews from other guests, and get to know what someone is like via e-mail and messaging. Contact details will not be exchanged before a booking is made. Guests pay us a £5 booking fee so we have their credit card details, including full name and home address. As there is a record of their stay at your address, it will deter any misbehaviour on either side taking place.

Q:Can I decline a request for any reason?

A:Absolutely. It is your house, your space and your decision whether you want to rent it out or not and who you want to rent it to.

Q:What if I only want to rent my space for a limited time?

A:No problem. With the help of our easy to use online calendar, you can block dates off when your space will not be available.

Q:Can I add more than one space to Holiday Crash Pads?

A:Yes, you can add as many spaces as you like, and list them at different prices if you wish.

Q:Can I ask for payment at the time of booking?

A:No, payment must be on arrival to prevent any scammers taking money from unsuspecting guests, and then not being home when they arrive, or having a ´non-existent´ property.

Q:Do I charge per person or per room?

A:Charge per room, or per space you want to let out, and make it clear how many guests that price covers. A double room, for example would normally be for up to two guests, but a sofa, a futon or a single room may only allow one.
